You know, I’d like for this to be good. If for no reason other than to hopefully lead some people away from the horrid-looking What To Expect When You’re Expecting. And because, given my eminent spawning, I’d like to see a movie about the whole child-raising/child-free dynamic that’s rapidly about to become a part of my life. And the cast is decent. Krysten Ritter, who I adore and doesn’t get nearly enough work, plays a single mom coping with single mom-hood in all of its various iterations — dealing with work, friends and relationships. It co-stars Kate Bosworth, Rachel Bilson, Geoff Stults, Justin Kirk, Fallon Goodosn, Rhys Coiro, Jason Biggs, and Kristen Johnston. It’s a potentially fun collection of talent, under the direction of first-time helmer/writer Kat Coiro. And I like that it’s a mostly slapstick-free, not idiotic take on the situation, where the baby doesn’t wreck your life and people have at least somewhat realistic, adult reactions. Somewhat, anyway.
