The first television channel of ABC Media Network Hiru TV began test
transmissions today (May 03) with an investment said to be the biggest
on a local television channel.
In the beginning, it will cover a 95 per cent area of the country.
At present it is having test transmissions from 10 locations.
In the future, it will be visible on UHF 21 in Kandy and Ratnapura,
Kurunegala and Nayabedda 22, Badulla and Hunnasgiriya 23, Gammaduwa 26,
Jaffna 38 and Kikiliyamana, Kokavil and Magalkanday 45 and 56 Colombo.
It will be the first local channel to be made available on HD Ready and
Digital Ready formats.
